Aaliyah "I Care For You "

Paying Homage

This song is definitely one of my favorites from the beautiful angel Aaliyah. It seems as if all the great artists' leave just short of reaching those plateaus of Greatest Of All Time. She will always be remembered as the Queen of RnB.

Flashback Fridaze: Do Or Die featuring Twista "Po Pimp"

"They peep those, p-i, m-p, and they think that automatically

Cause he's a pimp, he gotta be, full of that
M-o, n-e, but why? "

*** Being from Chicago this is the music that we grew up listening, partying, and vibing to. This was that era where Do Or Die would deliver that smooth flow with intricate bars that told a story. Twista would provide that Tsunami Flow that I was oh so eager to learn so that I could spit it on point. Sighs…. sit back, close your eyes, and allow AK-47, Belo, and Twista to take you to a serene space. Happy Friday… Enjoy!

Quick Bio: Chicago's Do or Die gained a hit with their first single, Po Pimp. Released on a tiny Chicago label, the track became a local hit and sparked the group's signing by Houston's Rap-A-Lot Records. Given a wide release in the summer of 1996, the single hit number 22, increasing the buzz for a full-length from the group. In September of that year, Picture This was released on Rap-A-Lot. Do or Die returned to action in the spring of 1998, releasing their second album, Headz or Tailz. Victory followed two years later. Back 2 the Game (2002) and Pimpin' Ain't Dead (2003) did well in Chicago and on the West Coast, but nationwide the group was being ignored by radio. With R. Kelly, Kanye West, and Twista all making guest appearances, 2005's D.O.D. was an attempt to change this. A year later, Do or Die went in a totally different direction by releasing the hard, street-minded Get That Paper with Bun B the lone guest star. (BVM Underground HipHop/YouTube)

Jam of the Day: Childish Gambino "Telegraph Ave" "Oakland"

In Oakland

I was introduced to this artist's music about 2 years ago by a co-worker and at first I wasn't too excited. After a few more listens and a reading of his many other talents I was then very intrigued. Learning that he was also a writer for the NBC comedy series 30 Rock, as well as an actor, and producer I now had a newfound respect for him as a true Jack of Many Trades. I respect all who have the ambition and determination to master their talents and LIVE pursuing the passions within the soul. Recently, a special friend of mine sent me the link to this video and I fell in love. It features singer Jhene Aiko as the leading lady and Childish Gambino delivers soft melodic tones of lust vs love. You can catch Lloyd "In Oakland" throughout the song as well which provides even more serene vibe. Being that I had no clue Childish Gambino could also sing the combination of him rapping and singing on this song makes my soul slightly joyous. Check out his album Because The Internet for other awesome music. Enjoy! Thanks MJ……

Freestyle's With Flex : Chris Brown

An Artist Is A Jack Of All Trades
Breezy

Chris Brown hit Funk Flex with nothing but bars and crazy flow in this joint. He is definitely a true artist as he continues to exude his many talents. He has already conquered RnB, Pop, Electronic, intricate dance moves, fashion and now he just bodied the art of rap. He may have his mishaps in life as we all have but no one can deny that he is beyond talented. Anyway enough of me blabbering enjoy this video courtesy of YouTube lol.

Jam Of The Day: Rae Sremmurd "No Type

"I Ain't Got No Type…. Bad B*tches Is The Only Thing That I Like"

After hearing their single "No Flex Zone" I wasn't sure if I was listening to teenagers or toddlers but after doing my research I began to slowly come around. Once they dropped the remix of "No Flex Zone" featuring Nicki Minaj I was all ears slightly. I then saw their interview with The Breakfast Club in which I discovered that they were under Mike Will Made it and the name Rae Sremmurd actually came from the label's name Ear Drummers. Very articulate young men who just like to make music that everyone can dance to is what I got and that made me a fan almost. Plus, whatever Mike Will Made It drops is guaranteed to be fire anyway. What actually sold me was finding out that they are from Tupelo, MS as I too myself have lived half my life in Mississippi. I appreciate all people but there is just something about the humility of a southern person. Always humble, alive, and living. So once this "No Type" joint dropped I was all ears. I can't get enough of it and I catch myself humming/singing the hook just randomly. Blessings to these two young men and their careers.

Jam Of The Day: Pyro Traxx "Another 1"

          "Real Hustla's Don't Stop…. Even When They Numba 1"

PYRO TRAXX is setting not only BX on fire but he has Dat Piff blazing with his newly released MixTape Pyrexx. With intricate bars, an array of flows, substance, great self production, and quality tracks Pyro Traxx has created a masterpiece that should definitely be taken seriously.  Released on Halloween Pyrexx is doing big numbers on Dat Piff and SoundCloud and I needed to get this out there ASAP.  "Another 1" is a single off the mixtape and this video can be found on his YouTube Channel but there are for sure many other hits. A few of my favorites from the mixtape are "Halo,"Selfish,"My Bible, and "Ultimate Warrior".

Jam Of The Day: T-Pain

But somewhere along the way, somebody got it twisted. "People felt like I was using it to sound good," says T-Pain, in an interview that will air on All Things Considered. "But I was just using it to sound different.”

After hearing him sing this live on WSHH today I just knew that I needed to post it asap. I have always been a T-Pain fan from his first album to his second "Epiphany" and the third "Thr33 Ringz". Yes, I too was just a little surprised at how amazing his voice is. I myself figured a while back that he had to have a great voice because he harmonized very well. He definitely showed up and showed out in this NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert. I am eager for the next album and a T-Pain features for sure. He SANG… yes SANG…. "Drankin' Patna" but then again he also sang the others as well. With our favorites hits such as "Bartender" and "Up  Down" T-Pain delivered and also showed his great personality through his music and without the music. This video made me oh so happy! I'm thankful to have the ability to watch such great artistry. Enjoy!

Jam Of The Day: Tink "Try Me" Remix

A Chicago Artist That Everyone Should Know and If Not Here I Give You

TINK

I'm from the Chi and of course I love music so I've definitely been following Tink for some time now. Not only can she flow but she can also sing her ass off. She is consistent and always delivers that greatness. A buddy of mine called me today and asked me had I remixed the "Try Me" joint yet in which I replied, "Nah". He then said that I should go check out Tink Remix to "Try Me" cause she killed it. Yes, she definitely did deliver that business per usual. She sang the chorus and laid them verses perfectly. The original song is from artist Dej Loaf who has taken over recently with that joint. Tink did her thang tho.
Enjoy!

Jam Of The Day: Jagged Edge "Me That's Who" *Throwback*

"If it's gonna work in our way, And if it's gonna work in our favor

I'm not to blame, I'm not the enemy. Girl, I'm tryna save us, baby"

As I vibed out this morning with this song on repeat it just took me back to my younger years. I can remember hearing this song and falling in love with the sincerity within the melodic voices. Listening to their album, "Baby Makin' Project",in my then Kia Sephia living on the Northside of Chicago thumping this as loud as I could possibly get it.  Jagged Edge has plenty hits but this one does something to me. Happy Thursday!

Jam Of The Day: Hodgy Beats "Alone"

ALONE

…… Because this is how I feel most of the time.
Yet, I still push forward in faith knowing that more awaits….This jam was surely very suitable for today's melancholy state.

Enjoy!

Jam Of The Day: Trey Songz x Chris Brown "Made Me" (Remix)

"Made Me"

Trey and Chris dominated this project equally as they are both greats. These Virginia natives definitely provided that sexy business and laced this track. The way they tag team within the verse is amazing and very creative. I would like to hear this while out partying soon as this would have the summer jumping. Anyway, I cannot stop listening to this track as I already love the original song by rap artist Snootie Wild. There are a few awesome tracks from this duo mixtape "TRGAxBRZY" by Trey Songz and Chris Brown so check it out.

Jam of the Day: Kirk Franklin and God's Property "The Storm Is Over Now"

" I feel like I can make it, the storm is over now "

This is the song our class sung at our 8th grade graduation and it has forever been stored in my heart. With beautiful melodies and claiming the victory with very word this song can surely uplift you.
Lately, I found myself humming and singing this beautiful tune by Kirk Franklin so I decided to share my energy.

***Life can for sure seem to break you down before it builds you up but the transformation speaks volumes. The goal is to simply find joy in your course through life and give thanks as you persevere. Be blessed.

Jam Of The Day: Tyler The Creator "IFHY"

I hate you…but yet I love you. The thin line! IFHY

Anyone who knows me personally knows that I love Tyler The Creator. For me he is a musical genius but he would have to come after Kanye of course. Artists that are able to direct their own music videos,  produce their own beats, rap on them while ensuring that track has substance, intricate transitions, shock factor, and realness are greats to me. Yes, there are many greats who are able to do the same without producing the track but for me this is a level up from just being a rapper/storyteller.  Not only is this video creative, weird/different, and creates a hell of a visual if you actually listen to the story he is telling its amazing. Tyler then switches up the beat and flow then proceeds to go complete ham at the end. I was in awe the entire time and had to watch it twice just so I could soak in the amazing feeling all over again. He kept my attention from the visual and pleased my ears with the bars. Sighs. Tyler just be my friend already now lol. Enjoy!

Jam Of The Day: Twista featuring Do Or die "Do You"

"23's like Jordan on the Escalade"

This joint took me back to my South Side Chicago living on King Drive days. I use to fall asleep to the radio as a soothing way to ease into my dreams. I remember this track on WGCI and I fell in love with Twista. He is definitely a great when it comes to a lyricist and Do Or Die just finesses the track oh so gracefully.  For some reason this song popped in my head earlier and I had to post it. Hope it vibes you out well too!
